Landing pages is one of the best ways to increase conversions. Another reason why landing pages have become so crucial is because with the help of Google analytics, not only can you gather leads, but it also gives you an understanding of how well your marketing is working, and which of your audience is more engaged.
One of the platforms that I use to create really amazing landing pages is Leadpages.
It has hundreds of beautiful templates, easy to use editing tools and you can customize your pages as you want. In this article, I will walk you through a step-by-step procedure on how to create a landing page using Leadpages.
Step 1: Log In and Choose a Template
The first step would be to create an account on Leadpages and log in. Once you’ve logged in, click on ‘Create New Page.’ Leadpages has two types of templates, standard and drag-and-drop. So, if you’re willing to make a customized landing page, a drag-and-drop template is recommended, because you can easily add or delete any sections from the template.
A standard template does not allow you to insert additional sections, but you can make changes in the existing template. Also, there are several categories of templates, like sales page, upsell page, thank you page, home page, launch page, webinar page, and many more. Choose the one that suits your motto.
Step 2: Get Started
Once you select a template, you will be asked to select a name for your page. Give your page a relevant name and continue. Your original template will appear with a customization bar on the left. The customization bar contains widgets like image box, text box, button, social share button, line and spacing, which you can simply drag and drop in your page if you require.
You also have layout and style options with which you can customize each and every section of your page. Easily remove whichever section you don’t want, add a section anywhere you want, change the background and foreground color, add or delete background images and add new images if you want.
Step 3: Add Your Content
Once you are familiar with how you can make changes in your landing page, you can start adding your content. Start with your company logo on top of the page. You can easily select any image from your file and upload it. Use an appropriate headline and subheading. Break your content into sections and add it to the sections accordingly. You can easily change the font, text color, background color, size and spacing of your text.
Add images and buttons from the widgets wherever you want. There are many image positioning and button styling options available too. You can also move your text boxes, your buttons and images within the page by simply dragging and dropping.
Step 4: Add Relevant Links to the Content
Now that you’ve inserted your content in the page, you want the page to be functional once it is published. Say for instance, you’ve added a ‘home’ or ‘contact’ or ‘buy now’ button to your page, you want people to click on the button and land up to your home, contact or transaction page.
Add appropriate links to each button by clicking on the link icon in button settings. You can also add links to any text or image in the same manner.
Step 5: Add Favicon and Google Analytics to Your Page
A favicon is the icon of your website that would be displayed in the address bar of your page once it’s published. Go to ‘Styles’ in the customization bar and click on ‘Add Favicon’ and upload your website icon and save changes.
Once you publish your page, you would want to track its performance and keep a record of the page traffic. Go to Google Analytics, click on ‘Admin’ and go to ‘tracking info’ and copy the Website Tracking Code.
Now come to your landing page, click on ‘Tracking’ and go to the ‘Analytics’ tab. Paste the copied code in the ‘Header Section Tracking Code’ and save changes. Now you can easily track your web traffic once the page goes live.
Step 6: Publish in Your Domain Name
Typically, a landing page created using Leadpages will be published under the default Leadpages domain. If you want your page to be published exclusively under your name, go to your account settings and click on ‘Custom Domains’, click on ‘Connect Domain’ and enter your domain URL.
Once your domain status is ‘Connected’, go ahead and publish the page. Your landing page will be displayed under your domain address.
Leadpages is one of the most user friendly landing page creation platforms that I’ve come across. If you too want to set up your own beautiful landing page, now you know where to go and how to create one.
